First of all welcome to my blog. I have just signed up for the Snack Surprise Premium box and intend on updating this post throughout the month as I try new items.

What is Snack Surprise?

Snack Surprise is a subscription box which sends you 8-10 snacks a month in the original box (£12.99) and 16-20 snacks in the premium box (£23.99) These snacks are from a different country every month. This month they were all from Greece.

This is the premium box. I'm going to update this blog post as the month progresses with reviews after I have tried them all, but for now I will add information about each item for you

Pizzeti

These are extra crunchy double baked break chips dusted with emmental cheese, tomato and garlic flavouring.

My review

These remind me a little of bruschetta. They are really tasty dried bread snacks. 1 is never enough for me! The flavour isn't too strong and they taste really good.

Jelly Pop Sweets

These are jelly sweets of lots of different flavours. They look like the type of sweets I would buy to bring back as souvenirs when I visit another country.

My review

These are amazing! I love the strawberry one best. They are soft fruit jelly sweets in different flavours, some of these flavours aren't that common in sweets I usually find in the UK. Flavours include peach, strawberry, cherry and more.

Caprice

These are crispy wafer rolls with cocoa and hazelnut filling

My Review

These are absolutely amazing! When I told a friend I had been sent a box of snacks from Greece the first thing she asked is if I had these and to share them with her! These are definitely one of the highlights of the box for me!

Ouzo Sweets

These are hard candy that taste like Ouzo - a liquorice flavoured liqueur

My review

I don't like anything that contains alcohol so the first thing I did was google to find out if this contained alcohol. To clear up any confusion there is no alcohol present in these sweets! They taste amazing! Like little balls of aniseed flavoured sweets. My only complaint is that there wasn't more of them!

Eclairs

These are caramel filled hard candies.

My review

These are really nice. My first impression was that the flavour was really strong, but in a nice way and the caramel in the middle of them is awesome.

ION Break Gold

Caramel White Chocolate with juicy blueberries and almonds

ION Chocofreta

This is a popular greek wafer bar with layers of crunchy wafer and rich cocoa cream filling wrapped in ION chocolate.

Lila Pause

This is Alpine milk chocolate with a bubbly strawberry yogurt filling and crispy rice pieces.

ION Derby

This has a rich coconut filling layered with puffed rice and wrapped in ION Chocolate.

Jumbo Oregano Crisps

Crunchy potato crisps with the Mediterranean flavour of oregano

My Review
These are really nice. They taste like plain crisps with a very light flavour to them. I can't describe the flavour.  They're similar to walkers ready salted with a slight flavour to them. I like them.

Cuba Honakia

Crunchy cone shaped crisps with ham and cheese flavouring

My Review
Despite these being labelled as spicy these weren't spicy at all. The flavour was stronger than expected, but it a nice flavour. The ham flavour is stronger than the cheese, but these are really nice.

Gemista Biscuits

A greek sandwich biscuit with a rich chocolate cream filling.

My Review

I really liked these. Kind of like a slightly crisper version of bourbon creams. Definitely really tasty 😀

Gum On! Burger Jellies

Build your own mini burgers with these soft fruit gummies.

My Review

These are exactly like the build a burger gummy sweets we have in the UK- 1 is never enough!

Loux Soft Drink

One of the most popular Greek soft drinks. The box contained either lemon or sour cherry carbonated soft drink.

My Review

This was awesome!. I had it straight out if the fridge. It tastes like Lemonade but was really refreshing on a hot summer day. I wanted another - I actually checked amazon for them but they only sold cherry or orange and were really expensive. If I ever go to Greece I will be looking out for this!

Jumbo Croissant

A fluffy croissant with a rich cherry filling

My review

This is absolutely amazing! I loved it and I usually am not a fan of croissants. It is a soft, fluffy croissant filled with a cherry filling, and plenty of it too 😀

Miranda Biscuits

Traditional Greek biscuits

My review

I honestly hated these! These were really dry biscuits that didn't taste of anything.

Kritsinaki

Bite sized breadsticks flavoured with pesto.

My review

The flavour was really strong and I could only manage a couple at a time, but these were ok. I don't think I would get them if I ever go to Greece but they were not terrible

2001 Crackers

Savoury crackers with zodiac signs.

My Review

These are just normal crackers.  I like that they have zodiac signs on them as it makes them unique. They taste good, kind of similar to Ritz crackers but a little bit thicker.

Macedonian Halva Vanilla

A healthy traditional Greek snack made of tahini (crushed sesame paste)

Elma Gum

Chewing gum with the unique taste and texture of mastic (mastiha) This is a natural resin.

Nougat Bar

Creamy nougat flavoured with apple, peanuts and cinnamon

Moustokoulouro

A traditional Greek cookie

My Review

Honestly I'm sorry for the negativity here but I really dislike this. I couldn't eat more than 1 bite. Firstly the smell is really strong - the best I can describe the smell is really strong gingerbread. The texture is that of a cake. The flavour is so disgusting I can't even think of anything I can compare it too. I think it is supposed to be sort of a grape flavour. It is really strong though. If I ever visit Greece these will not be on my shopping list!

And that's all for the Greek box. Did you get the box? What did you think of the items? This was my first one so I have nothing to compare it to, however I think the value for money is fantastic. They also give a portion of their profits to charity which I think is a great thing to do. Some of the items look interesting, and for me that's the beauty of the box. I can try stuff I would never have otherwise tried and you never know what you may end up liking. I will keep this updated as I try the rest of the products and will be back next month with the next selection of snacks.

Thanks for reading.
